University Union to bring Golden Globe-winning movies to campus

"Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri," winner of Best Picture at the Golden Globes, is playing at SU from Jan. 25-27.

University Union announced its Spring 2018 Cinemas schedule, which includes several Golden Globe award-winning movies. This semester, eleven films will be shown during free screenings in HBC Gifford Auditorium.

Screenings include Golden Globe Best Motion Picture — Drama award winner “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri,” Best Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy “Lady Bird” and Best Motion Picture — Animated “Coco,” among others, according to a University Union press release.

The lineup includes a blend of box office movies and Oscar contenders, said Peter Menaker, co-cinema director for UU, in the release.

“The Cinemas team can’t wait for students to pack HBC Gifford Auditorium,” he said.

Entrance is free for students, faculty, staff and the general public. Open captions will be provided on Saturdays. All showings begin at 8 p.m.

“Darkest Hour” — Feb. 1-3
“Thor: Ragnarok” — Feb. 8-10
“The Shape of Water” — Feb. 15-17
“Coco” — Feb. 22-24
“Lady Bird” — March 1-3
“Star Wars: The Last Jedi” — March 22-24
“The Disaster Artist” — March 29-31
“Proud Mary” — April 5-7
“12 Strong” — April 12-14
“Annihilation” — April 27-28
